Lach di Ciàz poem
The tiny Lach di Ciàz and the head of Valmalenco, Lombardy, Italy

Lach di Ciàz

Foot after foot
the peaks emerge
from the forest.

My ghost awakes
and rises up,
above the trees,
above the crest
of aging dreams.

My eyes command
what used to rule
my head below,
but not the heights,
the upper heights
of yore of which
I must let go.

Let go to go.
